DECLARATION CONTRE LES DISCOURS DE HAINE ET L'EXTREMISME VIOLENT

Le Conseil National de la Jeunesse du Cameroun comme tout autre observateur de la vie nationale a fait constat de la montée inquiétante des discours de haines de la part de certains de nos compatriotes du pays et de la diaspora. Ces appels à la haine, à l’exacerbation du tribalisme, l’intolérance et la xénophobie, la stigmatisation de certaines communautés et groupes ethniques sont devenus viraux au regard de leur ampleur et de leur impact. En effet, ces faits d’une extrême gravité sont aujourd'hui amplifiés par les nouvelles technologies de communication, au point que le discours de haine y compris en ligne sont devenus l'une des méthodes destinées à monter les Camerounais contre d’autres Camerounais. Le Conseil National de la Jeunesse du Cameroun dénonce fermement et sans équivoque ces messages et propos toxiques et dévastateurs qui vont contre le sens de l’histoire de notre pays et fragilisent la cohésion sociale, affaiblissent nos valeurs communes, et constituent une menace à la paix, à la stabilité et à l’unité nationale de notre pays, acquises de hautes luttes par nos pères fondateurs. Nous appelons les jeunes à rester vigilants et mobilisés et à faire confiance aux Pouvoirs Publics ainsi qu’aux personnes qui les incarnent. Nous exhortons la jeunesse à l’utilisation responsable des réseaux sociaux tout en à faisant preuve de civisme au risque malheureux de tomber sous le joug des sanctions prévues par la réglementation en vigueur.

DECLARATION AGAINST HATE SPEECH AND VIOLENT EXTREMISM

The Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC), like any other observer of national life, has observed with great concern the alarming rise of hate speech by certain compatriots within the country and the diaspora. These calls for hatred, exacerbation of tribalism, intolerance, xenophobia, and the stigmatization of certain communities and ethnic groups have become viral due to their scale and impact. Indeed, these extremely serious acts are now amplified by new communication technologies, to the extent that hate speech, including online, has become one of the methods used to pit Cameroonians against one another. The Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC) strongly and unequivocally denounces these toxic and devastating messages and statements that go against the trajectory of our country's history, undermine social cohesion, weaken our shared values, and pose a threat to the peace, stability, and national unity of our country, which were hard-won achievements by our founding fathers. We urge the youth to remain vigilant and mobilized, and to trust the Public Authorities and those who represent them. We implore the youth to use social media responsibly while demonstrating civic behavior, lest they fall under the sanctions prescribed by existing regulations.

• To synergize youth associations, organizations, and movements in Cameroon, with the aim of enhancing the creativity of young individuals and optimizing their potential for action and participation in development.
• To serve as an interface between young people, youth associations, organizations and movements, public authorities, civil society on one hand, and international institutions operating in Cameroon and working on youth-related issues on the other hand.
• To ensure the representation of young individuals, youth associations, organizations, and movements in local, national, and international consultations.
