Melvin Songwe Shuye is a Cameroonian humanitarian and development practitioner, youth leader, legal professional, and program management specialist. He has extensive experience in humanitarian action, peacebuilding, youth empowerment, gender inclusion, disability inclusion, civic engagement, and community development.
Melvin Songwe Shuye holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Yaoundé II-Soa. He also holds additional certificates in project management, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, peacebuilding and leadership, global citizenship training, and inclusive project management.
He has built a career in humanitarian and development program coordination, working with national and international partners, including United Nations agencies, government structures, civil society organizations, and community-based institutions.
He is the founder and President of the United Youths Organization (UYO), an organization focused on youth and women empowerment, humanitarian response, peacebuilding, inclusion, and community development.
Through his professional and humanitarian work, he has contributed to the implementation of programs related to gender-based violence prevention, sexual and reproductive health, disability inclusion, climate change, environmental protection, digital democracy, peacebuilding, and the fight against hate speech and violent extremism.
He has coordinated training, awareness campaigns, socioeconomic empowerment activities, and community interventions targeting internally displaced persons, women, young people, and persons with disabilities.
Melvin Songwe Shuye serves as National Vice President 2 of the Cameroon National Youth Council. In this role, he supports national youth coordination, thematic networks, youth representation, and policy-related processes.
He has contributed to national policy processes, including the Cameroon National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security, the National Youth Policy, and youth-related public dialogue initiatives.
He has received several recognitions for his contributions to peacebuilding, humanitarian action, youth empowerment, gender inclusion, disability inclusion, administration, and volunteerism.
He speaks English and French. His mother tongue is Limbum.
