The Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC) is pleased to announce a call for applications for the selection of 800 young men and women, including refugees, displaced persons, and members of host communities, for training in social, creative, or cooperative entrepreneurship under the PBF-PRONEC-REAMORCE project.
Background:
The Government of Cameroon, in collaboration with the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), is implementing the National Civic Education Programme through Moral, Civic, and Entrepreneurial Rearmament (PRONEC-REAMORCE). This initiative aims to increase the participation of young people in peacebuilding efforts by strengthening their civic education and entrepreneurial skills.
The project targets 40 municipalities across eight regions: Adamawa, Centre, Far-North, East, Littoral, North, South, and West Cameroon. The International Labour Organisation (ILO), in partnership with the CNYC, will oversee the selection of 800 youths for this training. The selected participants will have the opportunity to develop projects that promote peace and harmonious coexistence in their communities.
Geographic and Sector-Based Targeting:
This initiative focuses on specific geographic and sector-based targeting to ensure that support reaches the most vulnerable and impacted areas and sectors. This targeting will help address the unique challenges faced by different regions and sectors, promoting balanced and inclusive development.
Eligibility Criteria:
For Individuals:
- Must be between 15 and 35 years old, or part of a duly legalized youth association.
- Must reside in one of the beneficiary municipalities.
- Must have a project that promotes harmonious living together.
- Must be able to read, write, and perform simple calculations.
- Must be a vulnerable youth, refugee, displaced person, or member of the host community.
For Groups (Associations, Cooperatives, etc.):
- Must be a legalized group with a verifiable head office in one of the project municipalities.
- Must be led by a young man or woman.
- Must have more than one young member.
- Must have a project that promotes harmonious living together.
- Must demonstrate smooth operation of the group.
Application Process:
For Individuals:
- A completed application form (available at the Subdivisional Youth Affairs Delegation or CNYC office in the municipality concerned or downloadable here).
- Photocopies of birth certificate, national identity card, and Biometric Youth Card or its receipt.
- Photocopies of the highest diploma or apprenticeship certificate, if possible.
- A letter of recommendation from a member of the community of exemplary character.
- A certificate of residence.
- Any additional relevant documents attesting to entrepreneurial experience.
For Groups:
- A completed application form (available at the Subdivisional Youth Affairs Delegation or CNYC office in the municipality concerned or downloadable here).
- Documents proving the legal existence of the group.
- Information on the head office and first person in charge (name, title, contact details).
- Recent activity reports and financial statements.
- A letter of recommendation from a member of the community of exemplary character.
- Any additional relevant documents attesting to the group's entrepreneurial experience.
Submission of Applications:
Completed application files must be submitted in sealed envelopes to the Municipal Executive Offices of the CNYC and the Subdivisional Delegations of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (DAJEC) no later than July 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. The envelopes should be marked with the following: "CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE SELECTION OF 800 YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN (REFUGEES, DISPLACED PERSONS, HOST COMMUNITIES) AND YOUTH GROUPS FOR TRAINING IN SOCIAL, CREATIVE OR COOPERATIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP (BIT, UN WOMEN)".
Evaluation Criteria:
Applications will be assessed based on:
- The relevance of the project or project idea.
- Contribution to promoting peace and harmonious coexistence.
- Potential for job creation and local development.
- Innovative nature of the project.
Selection Process and Publication:
- July 26, 2024: Deadline for submission of application files.
- July 30, 2024: Compilation of applications by CNYC Sub divisional Executive Bureaus.
- August 2, 2024: Transmission of applications to the National President of the CNYC.
- August 5, 2024: National workshop to evaluate and select applications.
- August 12, 2024: Publication of the list of selected youths and youth groups.
