On July 1st, 2024, the official launch ceremony of the "Vacances Utiles" Holiday Workshop, 2nd edition, took place at Frantz Fanon College in Kodengui, within the 4th subdivision of Yaoundé. This event was graced by the presence of Deputy Divisional Officer Akondi Elvis Mbahangwen.
The youth of Yaoundé IV responded enthusiastically to the call of the president of the subdivision youth council for this subdivision, actively participating in the opening ceremony of the 2024 useful holidays program. Under the patronage of the Honorable Essono Francis Lin Mathieu, these young participants, who will be trained in the field of information technology, received kits from their sponsors, enabling them to commence their training with the necessary resources and respect for their trainers.
In his address, Honorable Essono Francis Lin Mathieu emphasized the importance of consistent attendance and respect for trainers to maximize the quality of the training provided. He highlighted the initiative's goal to equip the youth of this part of the capital with practical skills during the school holidays, steering them away from vices such as alcohol, tobacco, banditry, and other issues plaguing Cameroonian youth today. The IT training offered will not only familiarize the youth with computer tools but also arm them with techniques to combat false information on social networks.
Samuel Ledoux Kouam, president of the subdivision youth council of Yaoundé IV, reiterated the primary objective of keeping the youth engaged positively during the school holidays and providing them with a valuable education to ensure more enjoyable and productive vacations.
Representing the National President of the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC), Madame Fadimatou Iyawa Ousmanou, was Harman Adama, adviser number 2. The CNYC, through its various holiday programs, including "Vacances Utiles," aims to offer the youth constructive activities that contribute to their personal development and social integration.
The "Vacances Utiles" initiative, which started on July 1st, 2024, will continue throughout the school holidays, providing the youth of Yaoundé IV with an opportunity to master new skills and prepare for the challenges of the modern world.
