Le 14 mai 2024, la ville de Fongo-Tongo, dans la division de Menoua de la région de l'Ouest, a été le théâtre d'un événement remarquable avec le lancement officiel des activités civiles pour les célébrations de la Fête Nationale par le Ministre de la Jeunesse et de l'Éducation Civique, Mounouna Foutsou. Ce moment historique a marqué non seulement le début des festivités de la Fête Nationale 2024, mais aussi la première fois qu'un ministre était officiellement accueilli à Fongo-Tongo.
La présence de Présidente Régionale du Conseil National de la Jeunesse (CNJC), a ajouté une dimension significative à l'événement, démontrant le rôle actif des jeunes dans la promotion de l'unité et de la responsabilité civique. Leur participation a souligné l'importance d'impliquer les jeunes dans les processus de développement et politiques de la région.
Les habitants de Fongo-Tongo et de ses environs ont vécu une occasion sans précédent mettant l'accent sur l'unité et l'engagement civique. Les jeunes, qui constituent la majorité de la population de la division de Menoua, étaient au cœur de la cérémonie. Seize jeunes, ainsi que d'autres groupes organisés, ont reçu des équipements et des matériels du Plan Spécial Triennal pour la Jeunesse, pour un montant total de 34 682 000 francs CFA. Ce soutien financier vise à les aider à créer leurs propres activités génératrices de revenus. De plus, le Conseil Municipal de la Jeunesse de Fongo-Tongo a été mis en place pour offrir un environnement d'apprentissage où les jeunes peuvent acquérir des connaissances sur la vie publique et politique.
Exprimant leur gratitude, les jeunes de Menoua ont remercié le Chef de l'État, Son Excellence Paul Biya, d'avoir envoyé le Ministre Mounouna Foutsou comme son émissaire. Le discours du Ministre a mis en évidence le double aspect de la Journée de l'Unité, déclarant : « La Fête Nationale n'est pas seulement un moment unique de jubilation et de convivialité, mais aussi une rare opportunité de réfléchir au privilège d'être Camerounais. » Il a souligné l'importance de l'unité et du vivre ensemble, un thème renforcé par le brassage culturel et l'unité observés à Fongo-Tongo, où autochtones et non-autochtones vivent en harmonie.

On May 14, 2024, the town of Fongo-Tongo in the Menoua Division of the West Region witnessed a remarkable event with the official launch of civilian activities for the National Day celebrations by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou. This historic moment marked not only the beginning of the 2024 National Day festivities but also the first time a Minister was officially welcomed in Fongo-Tongo.
The presence of Mrs. Fadimatou, the West Regional and National President of the Youth Council (CNYC), added a significant layer to the event, demonstrating the active role of youth in promoting unity and civic responsibility. Their participation underscored the importance of engaging young people in the development and political processes of the region.
The people of Fongo-Tongo and their surrounding areas enjoyed an unprecedented occasion that emphasized unity and civic engagement. The youths, who form the majority of the Menoua Division's population, were at the heart of the ceremony. Sixteen youths, along with other organized groups, received equipment and materials from the Three-Year Special Youth Plan, amounting to a total of 34,682,000 CFA francs. This financial support aims to help them establish their own income-generating activities. Additionally, the Fongo-Tongo Municipal Youth Council was set up to provide a learning environment for youths to acquire knowledge about public and political life.
