L’ambiance était particulière festive et le moment historique au stade annexe N°1 du stade Omnisports de Yaoundé à l’occasion de ces jeux qui sont organisés pour la première fois au Cameroun. Comme l’a précisé le Ministre Mounouna Foutsou dans son discours d’ouverture, « les Jenasesco sont la concrétisation de la volonté du président de la République Paul Biya d’assurer un encadrement inclusif de la jeunesse camerounaise et de donner une réponse pertinente et éloquente à l’impression de discrimination de la jeunesse extrascolaire dans notre mouvement sportif et culturel ». Il a notamment indiqué que les Jeux Nationaux du Sport Extrascolaire - Jenasesco sont une occasion pour les jeunes de ce secteur, de montrer leur potentiel et de réaliser leurs rêves, comme l’a fait Francis N'Gannou , le parrain de cette édition. Ce dernier n’a d’ailleurs pas manqué d’encourager les jeunes à travailler durement pour voir leurs rêves se réaliser. « Soyez combatif lors des épreuves que vous allez braver durant la compétition, mais sachez aussi qu’en face de vous, vous avez vos frères », a indiqué le champion Francis Ngannou aux athlètes.
Il faut dire qu’au plan technique, la compétition est subdivisée en trois domaines, dont, une compétition sportive, une autre socioculturelle et les olympiades des métiers. Par-là, il est question selon Mamat Boukar Alipha, Coordonnateur des jeux, de « permettre aux compétiteurs de développer d’autres compétences en dehors du sport ». Ils sont donc 1000 athlètes à être enregistrés dans les deux ligues que compte la compétition à savoir la ligue des associations et mouvements de jeunesse, et la ligue des structures d’encadrement extrascolaire et professionnelle.
La mascotte des jeux a également été dévoilée, il s’agit de Sobadjo qui signifie mon ami. Le défilé des délégations a alors laissé s’exprimer les cultures de chaque régions et rehausser la beauté de nos sons, rythmes patrimoniaux ainsi que les tenues traditionnelles.
Les matchs d’exhibition opposant d’une part les conducteurs de moto taxi aux jeunes migrants et d’autres part les sauveteurs du marché mokolo à ceux du Marché central sont venus donner un aperçu de ce que sera le déroulé de ces jeux qui permettront de distribuer 146 médailles aux athlètes et compétiteurs disciplines confondues.

The national extracurricular sports games, the first edition launched! The ceremony was presided over on December 17, 2023 in Yaoundé by the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, in the presence of the godfather, Francis Ngannou, and the ambassador of these games, Françoise Mbango. The numerous athletes from the ten regions of the country were not forgotten. The atmosphere was particularly festive and the moment historic at the auxiliary stadium No. 1 of the Omnisports Stadium of Yaoundé on the occasion of these games, which are organized for the first time in Cameroon. As Minister Mounouna Foutsou emphasized in his opening speech, 'the Jenasesco are the realization of the will of the President of the Republic Paul Biya to ensure an inclusive supervision of Cameroonian youth and to give a relevant and eloquent response to the feeling of discrimination of extracurricular youth in our sports and cultural movement.' He notably indicated that the National Extracurricular Sports Games - Jenasesco are an opportunity for the youth of this sector to show their potential and realize their dreams, as did Francis N'Gannou, the godfather of this edition. The latter did not fail to encourage the youth to work hard to see their dreams come true. 'Be combative during the trials you will face during the competition, but also know that in front of you, you have your brothers,' said champion Francis Ngannou to the athletes.
Technically, the competition is subdivided into three areas: a sports competition, a sociocultural one, and the job olympics. According to Mamat Boukar Alipha, Coordinator of the games, the aim is 'to allow competitors to develop other skills outside of sports.' Thus, there are 1000 athletes registered in the two leagues of the competition, namely the league of youth associations and movements, and the league of extracurricular and professional support structures.
The mascot of the games was also unveiled, named Sobadjo which means my friend. The parade of delegations then allowed the expression of the cultures of each region, enhancing the beauty of our sounds, heritage rhythms, and traditional attire.
The exhibition matches pitting on one hand the motorcycle taxi drivers against young migrants and on the other hand the rescuers of the Mokolo market against those of the Central Market gave a glimpse of what the course of these games will be, which will distribute 146 medals to athletes and competitors across disciplines.
